Web site Accessibility Services

Accessibility Consulting

If you are currently in the process of planning the development and design of your web site, this is a perfect time to engage me for accessibility consulting services. Under an accessibility consulting contract, I'll help you work through your design plan, provide comments on development documentation and draft designs, and help you develop your site to maximize accessibility for your target audience.

I can help work with your existing design and programming teams to produce a maximally accessibility web site. If you're serious about accessibility, you can't engage an accessibility consultant soon enough — accessibility is most effective and cheapest to implement from the very beginning of your project.

The ultimate cost of accessibility consulting at the early stages of your site will vary enormously, depending on the knowledge and adaptability of your development crew and the needs and scope of your web site.

Accessibility Testing and Compliance Analysis

If your web site is either nearing launch or already finished, I provide two different types of accessibility reports to help you understand what needs to be done maximize accessibility.

General Accessibility Testing: Because I believe that the most critical facet of effective accessibility is rooted in the practical needs of disabled users, my primary accessibility report is based almost entirely on practical experience with your web site: keyboard testing, visual inspection, and screen reader testing. The report will also include summaries of basic compliance testing and issues such as HTML validation — but the primary focus is on user experience.

Accessibility Compliance Analysis: If your web site needs to comply with specific accessibility guidelines — as many governmentally funded groups do — then I'm happy to provide a detailed analysis of your site's compliance with those guidelines.

Accessibility testing starts at $750.00, but is billed beyond that point according to the time required for completion. Accessibility testing can be focused on specific pages you select or encompass an entire site. If you're confident of your development team's ability to apply recommendations across your site, then you may want to consider requesting a review of a single key page, such as a contact form. I'll still analyze global elements, such as your main navigation, as long as those elements appear on the reviewed page.
