In order to have your website online, it's necessary to establish two critical factors - a domain name and web hosting. Your hosting service is what provides the computer storage space where your site's files, scripts, and images are made available to the world, accessible through your domain name. ("joedolson.com" is my domain name, for an example.) It's critical that your hosting service is conscientious about security, has excellent customer service policies, and provides the support your site will need to continue running.

Although not everybody needs to know every detail about how web hosting operates, it's important to get a sense for scale, in order to understand what is being made available to you. Although I'm perfectly willing and able to work with whatever preexisting hosting arrangements you have made, I'm also happy to assist you in changing your hosting situation to provide you with the best arrangement for you.

I do not manage web hosting myself; instead, I am a reseller of hosting services from ICDSoft.com, an international hosting provider. ICDsoft is an incredibly reliable hosting service with fantastic customer service. In the past three years, I have experienced only one major outage, which lasted less than a day.
