Accessible Video Library was a WordPress plugin for managing media. It allowed the upload of captions and subtitles, and modified the behavior of the MediaElement.js media player to support those tracks.
I closed Accessible Video Library in May 2025, after I took over development of Able Player and the Able Player WordPress plugin. It had already been long under-developed, as it had little relevance in the block editor, which supported adding tracks natively, but did not use MediaElement.js, and changes in MediaElement.js had a tendency to break the plugin, since there were very limited options in filtering the output using standard means.
In time, I aim to develop the Able Player plugin to fill the gap that AVL previously held, but with much more stable and significant accessibility features.
