Well, this was never intended to take quite this long. As of today, it’s been just over a year since the last release of My Tickets – version 1.11.2. It’s been stable, so I’ve been able to let it run while I work on version 2. But I was imagining this would be more like 6 months than 12.

But these were some pretty intricate changes to make, with some pretty useful new features – so I hope it’s been worth the wait!

My Tickets 2.0 – What’s New

These are just a few of the major new features in My Tickets 2.0; try the update to see all the changes!

Add Dates as Ticket Types

Previously, if you had an event that ran three separate dates, you need to create three separate events: one for each date. With My Tickets 2.0, you can set the event type as ‘events’, and each ticket type is a separate date.

Virtual Inventory Management

Until now, tickets were only removed from inventory when a sale was completed. This is mostly fine, but can sometimes create a race condition where the last tickets could be sold simultaneously to multiple purchasers. This is largely a concern only for popular, rapid sales events; but in those cases, it can be seriously inconvenient!

My Tickets 2.0 includes an option to enable virtual inventory management so that tickets stop being available as soon as they’re added to a purchaser’s shopping cart.

Variable Cart Expiration Time

The shopping cart has always lasted for a week. With the addition of virtual inventory, however, that can be an awful long time for tickets to be unavailable for sale just because somebody *thought* about buying it. My Tickets 2.0 includes an option to adjust the lifetime of a shopping cart as low as 10 minutes, so that tickets can return to inventory quickly if somebody doesn’t decide to finish their purchase.

Bulk Ticket Check-in

You’ve always been able to check-in each individual ticket holder using a QR code. With My Tickets 2.0, it’s possible to check-in all tickets in a purchase at once.

Be careful, however; be sure to verify that all of the tickets in a purchase are for the same event, and that everybody is present!

This feature is in the bulk tickets template, so it can be removed in a custom template if you don’t want it.

My Tickets: PayPal Pro Gateway

Support for more options with PayPal Pro has been a long-demanded feature; this new gateway plugin supports all the options available to your environment using PayPal Pro, including Venmo or credit card transactions. It has Pay Later disabled, as the Offline gateway is the best way to handle indirect payment with My Tickets. Delayed online payments can be problematic for time-based sales.
